Let’s face it, there are times in life when you will feel stuck. You’ll know a situation isn’t right for you but there will be certain blocks in the way which keep you from making decisions and moving forward. Some people will decide to stay where they are, leaving life to play out for itself, whilst others will seek help from a certified life coach to get ahead.

We all have a default future but staying put when you know you should move on, will undoubtedly make you unhappy and irritable, leading to stress and anxiety. This in turn can affect all aspects of your life, including your work, relationships and health.

If you can’t take action by yourself or you’re impatient like me, invest in a coach. Whilst we’ve never been taught to budget for a life coach, self-development should be a priority, just as health is. A life coach is simply a coach for the mind, just as a personal trainer is for the body. When you find the right coach, they will give you all the shortcuts they have learned along the way to save you doing the hard work. They will know just the right exercises and techniques to shift your mind from feeling stuck to being liberated and free.

So what are the ways a certified life coach can help you conquer your blocks?

#1 See The Bigger Picture, Gain Clarity And Purpose

Firstly, when you are stuck in a situation, it’s all you can see. There are no roads out, you are completely stuck, your mind is closed off and you’re running on autopilot. One of the most important things a coach can do for you is to take you out of your thoughts and bring you into the present moment. A certified coach will have a plethora of powerful questions and with the right questions, you’ll gain clarity and purpose and the bigger picture will gently unfold leaving your mind open to opportunity and possibility. Practicing mindfulness is also key as it quietens the chatter in your mind. If you’re not keen on meditation, try staring at a candle flame whilst breathing deeply or go for a walk in nature. As simple as these sound, once your mind is calmer you’ll be able to see more clearly and the blocks will begin to disappear.

#2 Create Defined Goals

It can be really hard to evaluate your own life and create goals based on where you are and where you would like to get to as looking inside can take a lot of patience and determination. A certified life coach will guide you through this process, simplifying each step and helping you to embrace the process. Creating defined goals are a great way to conquer your blocks. Goals give you direction, something to aim for and a plan on how to get there. With this comes focus, motivation and a sense of achievement. Take a small step in the right direction each day and it will lead to incredible things.

#3 Conquer You Thoughts And Fears

Negative or limiting thoughts and beliefs are most often the underlying cause of our blocks. It helps to understand that of our consciousness, only 5% is conscious mind, this is the part we are aware of and the remaining 95%, is our subconscious mind. This part is made up of thoughts, memories and limited beliefs which are buried deep inside and even though we’re not aware of their existence, they have a huge significance on our behaviour. For example, you might not apply for a job because you don’t think you’re good enough or maybe you don’t try something because you’re scared you will fail or that people will judge you.

A certified coach will help you to identify any recurring limiting beliefs and will replace them with empowering ones. I’ve had plenty of coaching over the years and continue to do so. I’ve gone from feeling small and insignificant with minimal self-worth and self-belief to owning what I do and knowing that I deserve all the goodness that comes my way. My mind works completely differently now and it’s a lovely place to live within. I found using a technique called PSYCH-K® particularly helpful with turning things around, so much so that I trained to become a PSYCH-K® Facilitator and now use it during in-person sessions. It’s an incredibly simple method of transforming limiting beliefs into supportive beliefs at the subconscious level and gets to work really quickly.

#4 Release Your Resentment

Another way to conquer your blocks is to release your resentment. When you’re stuck doing something you don’t want to do, or you feel unfulfilled or unappreciated, it can only lead to one thing, and that is resentment. It might be that your wings have been clipped and you’ve lost some freedom, you don’t have any time for yourself or you give everything to everyone else and put your needs at the bottom of the pile and the list goes on. A certified life coach will help you conquer this block by helping you to release your resentment. But, firstly you’ll need to acknowledge it. No one wants to admit being resentful, especially towards your family but it’s ok to feel this way. So, acknowledge these emotions and take responsibility for feeling this way. Practice being present, exercise, go for walks in nature, cultivate forgiveness. Your coach will have different techniques to suit you to help you free yourself of this feeling. Then you’ll be a step closer to moving on.

#5 Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone

We all have a comfort zone. It’s the safe space in which most people like to live because we feel at ease and we’re not being tested. When you’re in your comfort zone you’re typically not engaging in new experiences or taking on any challenges because you prefer to feel safe and in control. But, in the great words of Neal Donald Walsch ‘Life Begins At The Edge Of Your Comfort Zone’ and I wholeheartedly agree. A certified coach will encourage you to lean into the edge of your comfort zone. For me, it means you’re going in the right direction so stick with it. Learn to love feeling uncomfortable, knowing that growth and personal development are on the other side.

So, when you next hit a challenging time and you feel stuck, you have two options. You can either stay where you are and let the time roll by, hoping it sorts itself out, or you can take action and get ahead by seeking help from a life coach; it’s a powerful way to overcome both personal and professional blocks that are holding you back.
